banksy, minibanksy

so that also happened

so that happened

say what you will about the conservative groups claiming that bill de blasio will be soft on crime and drag new york city back to the seventies, but you can't pretend the british-graffiti epidemic that's swept the city since he won the democratic primary last month isn't real.

why people deface banksy's work; the banksy v. robbo war in pictures.

This is New York? I don't remember so much light. Maybe that's the taking killer photos thing.

i'm one of the haters ! i mean, not really i guess, i like any kind of street art. but i delighted in the fact that something he painted in my neighborhood several years ago got splashed within MINUTES.

i think that adopting the vernacular of street art means that accept how ephemeral it is, right? i have yet to hear that insta-defacement bothers banksy, and the idea of having to defend your turf makes sense to me.

i like the fact that the pop press here in nyc has been talking about art all month, however superficially, and i've always liked the fact that some of banksy's stuff deals with animals (the chicken nuggets and leopard/coat installations, the awesome "sirens of the lambs" stuffed-animal truck in town this month). i first noticed him when he was painting animals, and it stuck with me.
